Build the Brand
Become known for something, so customers start coming to you.
What this stage means
Your brand is not your logo. Your brand is what customers say about you when you're not in the room, and by this stage, they're saying something. Stage 8 is where you take control of what that is.
This stage is about building a consistent identity and reputation: how you look, how you sound, what you stand for, and the experience people can count on. When your website, your social presence, your packaging, and your customer interactions all tell the same story, something powerful happens. People remember you, trust builds faster, and customers begin arriving through your reputation instead of your outreach.
This is the last stage of the Build It phase for a reason. Your brand promise is only as strong as your ability to keep it, and now you can. The offer is solid, delivery is consistent, and sales are steady. Your brand simply makes visible what's already true about your business.
What to do in this stage
Define what you want to be known for
Write your brand promise in one sentence: who you serve, what they get, and what makes the experience yours. Every branding decision after this gets measured against it.
Make your identity consistent everywhere
Align your name, logo, colors, and voice across your website, social channels, signage, packaging, and invoices. Customers should recognize you instantly, wherever they find you.
Show up where your customers already are
Pick the channels your target customers actually use and post, appear, or participate consistently. A steady presence on two channels beats a scattered presence on six.
Collect and showcase social proof
Ask happy customers for reviews and testimonials as part of your delivery process, then put them where future customers will see them: your site, your socials, your storefront.
Tell your story out loud
Pitch local press, speak at community events, join panels, and share the why behind your business. Founders who tell their story become the name people think of first in their category.
Signs you're making progress
- Your brand identity is consistent across your website, channels, and customer touchpoints, and it all sounds like you.
- Referrals and repeat customers are a growing share of sales, because your reputation is doing some of the selling.
- You have reviews, testimonials, or press you can point to, and new ones keep coming without a scramble.
- People describe your business the way you'd want them to, using words that match your brand promise.
You're ready for Stage 9 when...
Your business has a face, a voice, and a reputation that brings customers to you, and demand is starting to press against what you can personally handle. That pressure is the signal. You've built it. Now it's time to scale it, and Stage 9 begins with the systems that let your business run without you touching everything.
